David John Gilligan PhotoPersonal Statement

I am originally from Ringwood, New Jersey, a suburb just beyond the bustle of metropolitan New York City. As such, I grew up with both the big city splendor and the quietude of my rural hometown. After graduating high school, I enrolled at Villanova University, in a suburb of Philadelphia. It was there that I began to hone burgeoning skills in computing and the mechanics of business and finance. After completing a senior-year independent study project on the impact of the upcoming single European currency, I became fascinated by international business. I directly enrolled at European University in Brussels, Belgium. After two semesters in Brussels, I decided to transfer to the University of South Carolina's Master of International Business Studies. Studying and working in Paris as part of my studies increased my desire to work in global finance, technology and information management. From there, I went on to work in various cultures, industries, languages, responsibility levels and work cultures.

Currently I am enrolled in my final semester at the University of South-East Norway (Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge) for an MSc in Information and Technology with a specialization in Systems Engineering. I am currently working on my thesis with TechnipFMC on Accounting for Scope 3 Carbon Emissions in Purchased Goods. I have a BS in Finance, an International MBA, and more than 15 years of experience in IT/Finance/Data Analysis. I also have extensive experience in risk management and business analytics/intelligence experience, both as a user and developer. I speak native English, very good working French and intermediate-level Norwegian. With varied experience in Finance, Risk Management/Modeling, Project Management and Information Technology, I bring a unique breadth of insight to complex technical challenges, as well as an international perspective, and an excellent work ethic to any project I undertake. I strive to create value by integrating my Finance and IT backgrounds with the international breadth and depth I have been fortunate to develop.
